academic vs commercial version

hi.

suppose i have two machines where one is running academic
version of office 2003 pro and the other is running
commercial version. are there any differences in the
appearance of the two products? in other words, can one
tell if a person is running an academic version or
commercial version?

The Licensing agreements are different (read the respective EULAs).

Other than that, they are the same products.

No, UI is the same. The difference is in the use.
Academic for learning, Commercial for business or home application.
Your eula explains this.
