Receintly migrated Access 2000 database from Windows NT
4.0 SP5 to Windows XP Professional. When opening reports
to preview, print, edit or even opening underlying code,
database would usually error with "Could not write to
memory". Sometimes it would freeze or possibly close
unexpectedly without error.
Problem turned out to be a printer driver. The network
printer mapped to PCs in question is an HP 5000n. The
driver was PCL6. Downgrading the driver to PCL5e solved
the problem.
I discovered a message on the web with a similar issue
between Access 97 database with Windows 2000 and HP 4000
printer. The message stated that downgrading the printer
driver solved the problem.
