Testing here seems to indicate a bug in Access XP/Jet 4 sp 8 such that
Access will crash when trying to parse a certain type of query
definition. All jet 4 machines here are updated through sp8, so I
can't state whether earlier sp's are affected, but the behavior here
seems consistent for all sp8 machines.
To reproduce:
1) create a new database
2) go to Tools/Options/TablesQueries/SqlServerAnsi92 and check the
flag for 'this database'. Click ok.
3) create a new query, go to the sql window, and type 'execute x'
4) attempt to save the query.
Access crashes.
This is true for both Access 2002 and Access 2000 format databases
used in Access XP.
Of course, no stored procedure 'x' exists so 'execute x' can't run,
but that should result in an error message, and not a gpf. More to
the point, even if the stored procedure 'x' does exist, I see the same
behavior.
Does anyone else see this behavior with their AccessXP/Jet4sp8
systems? What about earlier jet4 sp's?
