Accented "s" in the name Nose

I am trying to make an accent on the word Nose over the s. I can make
other
characters (o, e, u, etc) using the option E, then the letter function,
but an accent over an s won't work. I am on a Mac OSX Using Word 2004

You are out of luck in v.X. s with an acute accent is not in the Mac
character set. In Word 2004, which has Unicode support, you would need
to insert it from the character palette. Unicode 015B.

If you are really desperate, you could manufacture one with EQ fields
or the Equation editor. You could then assign it to an autocorrect.
I used to do this for fractions and macrons in v.X

*Oh No*! Why don't I read the question before posting the wrong answer?

If you must know Clive, It was a Chilean Cab Shiraz. Veo Grande. A mail
order quaffer that will probably give me a hangover. It did taste OK,
even if it did make me post drivel once again.

fortunately for Hayes, I whistled past the right answer on the way down
the drain.

damn!

Dear Elliot: Bob sent me this and it worked, I am very happy at this
moment. It is going into a book, it is someone's name, and I wanted it
to be correct. I had already tried the first part of his message and
it wasn't there, so I did the second part and oila, there it was (jump
for joy). THank you very much for your response.

As long as you're in OS X, though, you can first
try Word's Insert>Symbol to find the character you're looking for.

If it isn't there (and may very well *not* be), you can use the OS X
Character Palette to locate & copy the character into the document. If
you
don't have the feature activated, go to the AppleMenu>System
Preferences -
International - Input Menu and check the box adjacent to the flag for
the
appropriate nationality/language (English U.S., English U.K., etc.).
There
will be a small flag of that type appear on the Mac menu bar which you
can
then click to select the Character Palette.
