Accept all task changes from PWA to update Project schedules

lude94

When updating actuals from timesheets (PWA) to the schedules, after selecting
Accept All then Update, the following error message appears:

"You need Microsoft Project Professional 2002 or Microsoft Project
Professional 2003 in order to perform this action.
If you are using either of these versions, verify that a correct account for
this Project Server as been set up and selected by pointing to Enterprise
Options (Tools menu) and then clicking Microsoft Office Project Server
Accounts. If you are unable to start Project with the correct account,
contct your server administrator to make sure that the enterprice features
have been enabled on the Project Server."

This appears regardless of whether MS Project is opened or not. User is
able to update the live schedules and take ownership or various schedules
without any problems.

Has anyone had any similar experience or know how to resolve this issue?

Do you have Project Professional 2002 on this machine with a user account
configured?

silly to ask.. but as error message alerts... are "Enterprise Features" -
Enabled on your Project Server?

Enterprise Features are enabled. The server is set up as the default in
Tools, Enterprise Options, Microsoft Office Project Server Accounts. User is
able to update and take ownership of schedules without problems.

Is there anything else that can be checked?

I've seen this problem on XP SP2 machines. Have the user logon to another
machine to verify that it's machine specific. I suspect it's a setting in
the updated firewall or security features, but I don't have a specific
answer for you. I'll see if I can dig something up.

Hi.

You have to be sure that the server path in the MS Office Project Server
Account (Start/Programs/MS Office/ MS Office Tools/ MS Office Project Server
Accounts) is exactly the same like you use in Web Access.

e.g.
You login to Web Access using http://servername/projectserver. It has to be
the same in the Project Server account.

I hope this will help.

Thanks for the advice. I've already checked the server path using Tools,
Enterprise Options, Microsoft Project Server Accounts, then selecting the
account showing the server path, Properties, then Test Connection, which
advises that "Project has succesfully connected to the specified server."
"Set as default account" is enabled.

Richecity,

I'm not using remote access, I access the server directly and Enterprise
features are enabled. The same error message appears when logging onto
another machine so we suspect that this is possibly a global profile issue ???

I am encountering exactly the same problem as Lude94. Checked all above
advice... but it's still giving me the same error... Has anyone found a
resolution for this one?
Please advise.
Thanks a lot

I am experiencing the same VBScript error. Gary is very helpful, so if he
knew the cause, he would post it.

The article solved the problem. I have learned that performing a MSDN search
with the exact error message can provide the necessary insight into resolving
issues.

HOW TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE
====================

To resolve this problem, make sure the Project Server URL that is used in
PWA is the same as the Project Server URL that is used Project Professional.
To make sure that the Project Server URL that is used in PWA is the same as
the Project Server URL that is used Project Professional, use one of the
following examples:

• Use the FQDN in both Project Professional and PWA.
• Use the NetBIOS name in both Project Professional and PWA.
• Use the IP address in both Project Professional and PWA.

To do this, follow these steps:
1. On the Tools menu in Project Professional, click Options.
2. Click the Collaborate tab.
3. In the Project Server URL box, type the corresponding URL for Project
Server, and then click OK.

All,

I also faced the same issue.

I did whatever was suggested in the Error box and it corrected the problem.

- I set the Project SErver account as the DEFAULT account. Then I saved the
project
- Then I logged off from PWA.
- Then again logged into PWA
- And clicked on UPDATE button to accept the task updates from Team Members.

It opened the project and updated it.
