Accept Tentative Decline buttons grayed out

I sometimes receive an invitation to an event in my Entourage calendar
where the Accept Tentative and Decline buttons are grayed out. There
doesn't seem to be any reason or commonality to this behavior. I often
receive an event that I want to decline, but I can't do it since the
buttons aren't available. When I go into my calendar and double-click
the event, I can only adjust my time to Busy, Free, Tentative, etc.

Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix this or why this
behavior is happening?

Thanks!

If it's already on your calendar then the event has already been
accepted or accepted tentatively.

For POP and IMAP accounts you can stop this behavior by going to
Entourage menu --> Preferences --> General Preferences --> Calendar and
uncheck "Tentatively add events when invitations are received
(non-Exchange calendars only).

For Exchange accounts, check with your server admin and find out if you
are using Exchange Server 2007. Exchange Server 2007 will accept
tentatively on your behalf.

Hope this helps!

How do you suggest I overcome this behavior. It has a secondary effect
of duplicating the event on my iPhone as well.

Thanks, Bill.

You need to first determine which, if either, of the causes I suggested
is the reason.

I doubt that double events is a result of the same problem but I'd at
least try to stop that behavior before troubleshooting the duplicated
messages.

Hope this helps!

My bad. I should have replied that we are on Exchange 2007 as of 3 or
4 months ago. So you're saying that this problem is caused by in
Entourage by E2K7 automatically accepting (tentatively) all
appointments? Does this have to be changed globally, or can it be
changed in Entourage?

This is a server-side feature but it can't be turned off/on with
Entourage. Outlook may be able to do this but I'm not sure. Your
Exchange Server admin should be able to tell you if he can turn it off
for your account.

Hope this helps!
