Accepting formatting changes after tracking changes

How do I accept formatting changes? When I accept all changes, the
formatting changes still appear. I tried some of the things offered on this
site to no avail.

In the show window, I deselected everything except Formatting and then
accepted all changes. This did not work.

When I want to accept formatting changes, I set the balloons to show for
comments/formatting only. Then on my last proofreading pass through the
document I just watch for balloons. When I find one, I right-click it and
accept. Then, when I've accepted all the formatting changes, the space for
the balloons disappears.
