Access 2000 database increasing in size

Hi,

I am using Access 2000 database with VB 6.0. The database
size was arounf 16 MB. After performing some statistical
calculation involving around 39000 odd records, the
database is increasing to some 1.2GB. Even afetr deleting
the records, the size is not decreasing.

Any suggestion or solutions.

With JET databases, temporary space in the database file is used in
calculation but not recovered after. You need to compact the database
regularly. I don't use VB6 but I believe there is a CompactDatabase Method
in VB6.
