access 2000: index or primary key null value error

Hi, I'm updating a database created in Access 2000. When I go to the non
data-entering boxes (dropdowns, commands) I get the message "Index or primary
key cannont contain a null value." It won't let me do anything at that point
other than hit "OK" and then I can't do anything else. Any suggestions?

Design your form correctly so that the index or primary key gets
filled in.

Bear in mind, that we cannot see your database! Are you using a Form
to do this data entry? What is the Recordsource for the form? What is
the Primary Key of the table? What is its datatype? Is there some
control on the form bound to this primary key field?
