Access 2000 - Language Difficulties

I am running Access 2000 on Windows XP (Home Edition).
Whenever I attempt to insert a UK Postcode or Telephone
Number into a database record, however, the wizard
immediately goes into 'USA Mode' and will only accept USA
formats for postcodes and telephone numbers. How can I
overcome this??
