Access 2000 - OS Upgrade from Windows 2000 >XP

We are using an Access Database with an SQL Server, we
have no issues in our central unit, where the operators
use Windows NT / Word 97.

However we have a few laptop users who dial in using a VPN
connection and either ISDN or Broadband. Laptop users who
use Windows 2000 / Word 2000 can generate letters without
a problem. (The users press a command button on the
access form which opens word and the relevant word
template, once the letter has been produced the user
switches back to Access and presses an OK button which
saves the document and creates an 'Activity' Note in the
Access Database.)

However remote users using Windows XP & (Word 2000 or Word
XP) find that when thier Access loads Word, they can type
their letter however when they try and return to Access
the system has locked completly. They have to Shutdown
thier machine to reset it.

One specific homeworker had no problems on his old laptop
using Windows 2000 & ISDN connection, we then upgraded his
connection to Broadband and again no issues, however when
we issued him with a new laptop the problem arose. We
tried updating his version of Word from Word 2000 to Word
XP however he still has the same problem. The only
configuration difference is the operating System.

We have remade the Access MDE and updated the reference
links to the correct versions of Word however this has not
resolved the problem. All users use Access 2000.

Thanks for your help

Regards
