Access 2000 Security Problem

G

Gordon Padwick

Yesterday I made some changes to users, groups, and permissions for a
long-established database. All seemed OK before I closed down for the night.
Today, I tried to open the same database. Access wouldn't start; it showed
only the message "Too many active users." I could open the database when I
switched to the default MDW file.I can't find any reference to the message
"Too many active users" in Help, the Knowledge Base, or any of my books.

Can anyone provide insight into why this message is displayed and how to
cure the problem?

Gordon

here are lots of references to that error in google groups.

This article describes some of the anomalies that can occur when
you are using Microsoft Access with networks that have not been tested
with Microsoft Access. These networks include DEC Pathworks, Sun PC-NFS,
IBM PC-LAN Server, and others.

It is also described in knowledgebase article Q109739: "This article

Access with networks that have not been tested with Microsoft Access. These
networks include DEC Pathworks, Sun PC-NFS, IBM PC-LAN Server, and others."

Is that relevant?

HTH,
