Access 2000 to 2002 Conversion

I was able to convert a Access 2000 ADP file to 2002 format with no errors.
When I went to convert that to an ADE for my users I get the error:

"Microsoft Access was unable to create an ADE database"

There are no VB errors when I compile the project and knowledgebase article
KB283788 indicates that may be a reference to a mdb or adp file. Where
would I find this type or reference?

Hi Tom,

From your description, I know that even you have compiled your adp files
successfully, you still could not convert an Access 2000 ADP to 2002 format
and will get the error message like "Microsoft Access was unable to create
an ADE database" Have I understood the issue correctly and completely? If
there is anything I misunderstood, please feel free to let me know.

Based on my knowledge, reference means the one you import from another
Access file.
Check the follwing steps:
1. Open your ADP and change to VB Environment
2. Click, Tools -> References...
3. See whether there is mdb, mda, mde or adp file is selected
4. remove these select and try your convert again

Hope this helps and if you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate
to let me know.

Sincerely yours,

Michael Cheng

Michael,

I did not find and and references to mdb or adp files but I did notice that
I was loading the reference library "Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.5".
On a whim I removed 2.5 and added 2.6 and it worked.

Thanks for getting me back on track.
