Access 2000 vs Access 97

I built a database using Access XP. I have about 60 end
users who are not very PC Proficient. I attempted to send
them a hyperlink to the Access file on the public drive.
The issue is that all of the PC's attempt to open the file
using Access 97. It is as if Access 97 is the default for
any .mdb file?? I work for a large corporation and we
have both 97 and XP on all of our desktops. Is there a
way to send them a link through email and have them open
the file in XP instead of 97? I tried sending the whole
database through Outlook, but they attachement was
blocked.

if the users all have access xp installed in the same location, you can
alter your link to be in the format:
<location+name of msaccess.exe file> <location+name of database>
You can enclose each section in double quotes if tehre are spaces in the
name

I find the .mdb file association stays with whatever version of access was
last opened

I think your idea will work, I'm just having issues with
the syntax. How can I have the hyperlink link to both the
msaccess.exe and the .mdb file? I have the location of
both files, but I get an error if I just type them in side
by side.

the .mdb file is the argument for the msaccess.exe file so try close them in
quotes.. or create a single shortcut for each user in say program files or
somewhere else and then have the hyperlink just point to that..
