Access 2002 Runtime Spellcheck w/Office 2007

I posted this previously and get no response. Not sure if my question is
worded poorly or if this is the wrong forum, but I'll ask again:

I have the Access 2002 runtime installed on my client machines running an
access data project. Some of my users just installed Office 2007 (without
Access) and now spell check for my text areas on my forms no longer works.
Gives a message that the dictionary can't be found (or something similar, I
haven't seen it yet, just talked with my champion and he explained the
problem.) It makes sense that the dictionary might be different in 2007,
however, is there an elegant solution?

The only reason it formerly worked is because you must have had the
dictionary installed with whatever version of Office you already had on the
machine, since you cannot legally distribute the Proofing tools with the
Access runtime.

That means that in order to get it working again, you'll have to look for
some third-party spell-checking product. Sorry, I don't know of any, but
that doesn't mean they're not out there.

I never said I distributed the proofing tools. They did have Office 2000
previously installed, and the runtime found the dictionary just fine.

So you're saying that an Access 2002 runtime can't work with the Office 2007
dictionary? Who's fantastic idea was that?

The runtime has never been able to use any Office components from another
version.

standard edition of OFFICE 2007 installed?

So far I've got somebody telling me to get third party software and somebody
telling me it can't be done.

Can you show me some documentation? After 10 days of searching I'm a bit
tired of this.

No offhand, I don't know of any "documentation", but it seems sort of obvious
doesn't it? I've been distributing the Access 97 runtime for over a decade and
it has never been able to use the spell-checker in Office 2000 or newer so I
logically expect the same behavior in every other version of the runtime.

When Office versions are developed I imagine that the developers and MS
management are not very concerned with making Office components backward
compatible with older versions of Office and certainly not with older versions
of the Access runtime.

I would not be shocked if there were some cross-version compatibility say, 2002
runtime and 2003 Office since those two seem about as close as any two Office
versions have ever been, but I certainly wouldn't expect it to be so.

Thanks for the response.

Sorry to take an attitude with you, not right to kill the messenger so to
speak.

It does get frustrating when questions that have already been answered get
overkill responses from Microsoft MVP's and developer questions get short
shift. Maybe that's just my perception, but it's happened more than once.

I'll take a break before I write any more.
