Access 2002 will not open or import data from external source

Pat H

Hi all, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I have a number of tests/queries I wish to run in MS
Access 2002 to determine if the data I am using is
correct - the data includes geographic reference
information that I use with a mapping software. However,
I cannot open, nor can I import data from any other
external source without getting a 'type mismatch' error.
The data does not import at all and upon 'ok ING' this
error a table window, without data, opens
titled 'mx_FrmMain:Form'. I have created a new .mdb with
no tables/data and I have attempted to import .xls, .txt
and other db file to no avail. I have even stripped off
all field headings and changed all column attributes
to 'general'. I have removed Access and reinstalled, but
the error persists.

Thanx Pat

Hi Pat,

Do the following:

- Install the latest version of the Microsoft JET Database Engine, see:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;239114

- Re-register the file "DAO360.dll" as follows
+ Open windows explorer and locate the above file in the folder
C:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\dao

+ Click Start > Run
+ In the open run command line type regsvr32 followed by a space
+ Left click, drag, and drop the above file and place next to
the above typed so that it reads something like
regsvr32 "C:\program files\common files\microsoft
shared\dao\dao360.dll"
+ Click OK. Should receive message "...succeeded..."

- If still unable to import/export then use solution in the following
article to register the ISAMs
ACC2000: Error Message: Could Not Find Installable ISAM
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;209805

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.
