Access 2002 won't start

Chris Holmes

When launching Access, I'm getting error message stating "a problem
occured while Microsoft Access was communicating with the OLE Server or
ActiveX control." After dismissing dialog box, another one pops up in
its place, etc. - preventing me from using Access. Any idea what
causes it?

I've had this message before (long time ago), when opening database
developed in Access 2000. I converted the database to 2002, and that
solved it. Now Access won't start at all. The only thing I've done
recently was to install IE7.

Any leads appreciated.

Chris,

Do an Uninstall on IE7, then see if it works again. If it does, post back
here so that one of the MVPs can get feedback from MS on the problem.

Note: Do NOT try to do a system restore to an earlier date. It will blow
out your browser and you will hate yourself (and Bill Gates) for days and
days and days... Use Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs.

I also have a similar problem. When I compile to an MDE a form with an
embeded web browser causes a crash. If I use Access 2002 full - no Prob
but if I use the Access 2002 Runtime, the web browser form crashes as
soon as it tries to access a web page.

Perhaps our problems are related.
