I am not completely clear on whether 2003 uses a new file format
Access 2003 uses a Jet 4.0 file format, the same as A2K and A2K2.
Inside that file, it stores an Access Project, which is either an
A2K project or an A2K2 project. There is no A2K3 project format.
A2K3 uses either the A2K project format or the A2K2 project format.
In either case, it goes into a Jet 4.0 file.
Or into an ADP/ADE file.
Dunno what the file formats are for ADP/ADE.
This link discusses use of the A2K2/A2K3 project format. As per
usual, it makes no distinction between the Access project and the
Jet File in which it is stored:

I'm interested in locating information about issues related to an Access
2002 to Access 2003 database conversion. I am not completely clear on
whether 2003 uses a new file format, or if the 2002 file format we are
currently using remains the standard. I'm sure that there is published
information about this, but I have been unable to find a clear explanation.
Your help and references are appreciated..
