I'm trying to create a scatter plot with Access 2003. I have a table
whose primary key field contains numbers representing timesteps. There
are three other fields that contain data corresponding to each
timestep. I want a scatter plot with time on the horizontal axis and
the values from the first data field on the vertical axis.
I followed these steps:
1. Create a new report by clicking the 'New' button in the 'Reports'
Object pane.
2. Select 'Chart Wizard' and choose my table. Next.
3. Select the first two fields (timestep and data columns). Next.
4. Select 'XY Scatter Chart'. Next.
5. Drag the 'data' field button to the the 'Data' box.
6. Double-click the 'Data' box and select 'None' in the 'Summarize'
dialog.
7. Drag the 'timesteps' field to the 'Series' box.
8. Click the 'Preview Chart' and inspect chart layout. Next.
8. Click the radio buttons for 'Yes, display a legend' and 'Open the
report with the chart displayed on it'. Finish.
A chart was produced in which all the y-values appeared to be from the
'data' field but x-values were 1 and there was a separate series for
each point. Interestingly, when I viewed the sample chart, it looked
fine: each point had distinct x,y-values and there was only one
series.
Any ideas?
