Access 2003 hotfixk b945674-glb - location for extracted files?

TerryGH

I have XP SP3 and Office 2003 SP3 and I downloaded the hotfixk
b945674-glb.exe file but when I go to install it, I get a popup window that
asks for the location where I want to place the extracted files.

The most logical directory appears to be: C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\OFFICE11 -- is this correct?

Sidenote I also checked the office update site and this hotfix file was not
found and I checked control panel/add or remove programs and this file has
not been installed as best as I can see.

Thanks ...

You could put them there, but the extracted files are just temporary install
files; they can be put in your \Temp\ folder just as well.

It won't show up either place. A hotfix isn't a standard update sent to
everyone, just to people who need it and choose to download it; and it's a
patch to an existing program, not a new program which would show up in
add/remove.

"Thanks for the quick response, John --- I extracted to c\temp directory and
the MSACCESS.msp and the readme.xt file were extracted. The instructions say
to do something like as follows start msiexec with path & filename.

The closest I could figure out was start/run "msiexec /p
[c:\temp\msaccess.msp]" and the error message said "this patch package could
not be opened. Contact vendor etc -- verify its valid Window Installer
package"

Any thoughts?

Hiya Tom --- ***Big*** time thanks for the wayyyyy to simple solution that I
didn't even think about :)

Now I can move on to enjoy the rest of what remains of Labor Day ... thanks
again to you both!

Hi Terry,

Did you try just double-clicking the MSACCESS.msp file? The directions also
indicate that this is a viable method of installing on a client PC. It looks
like one can also right-click on the file, and then left-click on Apply Patch
in the drop down list.

If you click on that check box titled "Show Updates" at the top of the
Add/Remove Programs you should see all patches and hot fixes. Note
that this can take a few or fifteen seconds to display.
