Access 2003 on only one work station

I have a replicated database where the design master resides on a home office
server -- with users throughout the country. No problems to date (relatively
small -- 26Kb). One of my users has been upgraded to Access 2003 (our
company is slowly upgrading all) but when he tried to create a replica, he
received a warning "unsafe expressions are not blocked" and when he clicked
"No" he was given another box indicating the need to update to Jet 4.0,
Service Pack 8. I looked at upgrading but there are various versions based
on operating systems - I believe we are all operating on XP, but I also know
we are converting some to 2003.
1) Do I open the design master and conduct the upgrade on that copy or can I
do it on my replica?
2) If the design master is on an XP system, will a 2003 system upgraded with
Service Pack 8 operate properly?
3) Will all of the users need to upgrade to Service Pack 8 after we upgrade
the design master or will their older versions work?

Hi Don,

As a general rule of thumb, I always install either the latest MDAC or JET
SP's, on all the machines that require them, I have not run into any
problems having some machines on JET SP8 and some not, the JET SP is a local
service pack for the workstation, and as such does not mean that if you
service pack 1 machine that you have to service pack all the machines as the
service pack does not change the databases but the programs that run the
databases.

Hope that answers your question.
