Access 2003 reinstalls after opening access 2007 and vice versa

Does anyone know a solution to keep this from happening?

I have tried uninstalling 2003, running repair on 2007 and then reinstalling
2003. I have several users that use both 2003 and 2007 throughout the day
and only recently did it start reinstalling when ever they closed one and
switched to the other version. If they open 2003 and then open 2007, 2007
will "reinstall", as long as they only minimize the apps they can use both
without any problems.

Upgrading the 2003 access database is not an option at this point.

I have not been able to locate any other information on the web about this
(apparently I just don't know how to search it), so if anyone has any
solutions or suggestions to try, I'm willing to try them.

one point is that 07 is able to open an 03 or an 07 database so that it is
not necessary to change between versions of Access.

a developer that develops in different versions often will put multiple
versions on one machine simply to avoid the need for a different machine for
each version....but an end user does not need to do this...

We have also put the switch in the shortcuts to the databases they use the
most so it opens with the version of access we want it to use.

It almost seems like it is having to overwrite something in the registry or
something. It is driving my users crazy that everytime they open the
different versions of access that which ever one is opened 2nd, it has to
"install" office again.

once again; there is no reason end users should have to even need multiple
versions... they should only use the 07....

Heather,

This is expected behaviour. Do you have SP1 installed for 2007? There
was something in SP1 that made this process faster. But you can't
eliminate it.

I'm with NTC here... you have to really ask yourself why you want both
versions installed on these end user machines.
