Access 2003 to Access 97

Hello,

A customer has following issue:

An Access 2003 database with linked tables that si converted to Access 97
does not preserve the linked tables, they are replaced by fixed tables.

Has anyone ever seenthis before of does anyone have an explanation?

Tables in Access 2003 format cannot be used by
Access 97 - so 2003 converts them to local tables
in 97 format.

Does it also do that (incorrectly) to tables which
are already in 97 format? If so, are all service
packs applied? (I haven't tried it).
