Access 2003 vs Access 2002

Greetings, I run Access 2003 from home but at work we are still on Access
2002. In 2003, when I rename a field/table it automatically will update the
fields that were pointed to it. This doesn't happen in 2002. I was just
wondering if this was a version upgrade or if there is a setting in 2002 that
I am missing. I swear I spend more time in 2002 planning/updating how
objects are named. Any comments would be welcome. Thanks =)

I made an error, the fields and tables do update in 2002. What isn't
updating is the tables and fields used in macros...unfortunately now I am
questioning whether they do that in 2003 either. I shouldn't be allowed near
the computer before 8 am. Anyway...if anyone can point me to a list of
Access improvements from 2002 to 2003 that would be fabulous. I could only
find office improvements.

Frankly, I would turn the AutoCorrect feature OFF from any version of
Access. It has caused me more headaches than it has solved. Instead, I use
an Add In utility by Rick Fisher called "Find and Replace". You can find it

I dunno about that. AutoCorrect in A2003 has been quite stable for
me.

Thank you for the response, this link is perfect. I figured out that what I
had been utalizing in 2003 are dependency tracking...which isn't available in
2002. I have already put in the request for the upgrade at work. Thanks
again for the link =)

That's good to know. I'm still stuck in Access 2000. (At that I'm lucky.
Most of my organization is still on A97.)

But I wasn't referring necessarily to the instablility of early versions,
but more the problem of unintended consequences.

Instead of deleting an object, I will often re-name it to keep it for a
while or to see if the application will break without it and so forth. This
is defeated when the AutoCorrect changes the name in other places. Also, as
I understand, Autocorrect will change the name is some places but not in
others (in Code for example.)

I'm just uncomfortable with Access automatically changing names in other
places in my application. I'd like to control it. With Find and Replace, I
can do that.
