Access 2007 Automatically backing up?

Hello:

I had to reinstall Access. Now, when I close my database, it creates a copy
called database.mdb (If I don't delete this file, it creates a new one with a
successive number, such as database1.mdb.)

I can't figure out what to turn off to get this to stop.

(Note: File is stored on a network drive. Not sure if that's related.)

To turn it off, go to the Office button at the upper left. Click on the
Access Options button. Click on Current Database in the left column. Uncheck
Compact on Close under Applications Options.

You are correct about it being related to network issues. It's a network
security issue. What you see is actually a symptom that you, or other users,
do not have full permissions to the network folder that holds the database
file. You need at least Create, Delete, Modify, and Add privileges to that
entire folder plus the database file(s) in it. Otherwise you may have other
problems in the future.

Thanks. My IT department must have changed something on the network side.
Before I had to reinstall Access I did have it "Compact on Close" with no
issue. Oh well. This works now.

Thanks again.
