Access 2007 backup/save/VBA Errors

P

Pat I

I recently converted an Access 2000 database to Access 2007. In the 2000
database, I had several tables, queries and reports that contained records of
individuals (past and present) of my youth organization. In 2000, I was able
to insert an object in an OLE Object field that linked to a folder containing
a photo of the individual. The actual link was placed in the main table
containing all fields of the record. I had no problems inserting links as
new members were added. I also had no problems with images displaying in the
report. Now that I've loaded Office 2007 on my computer, Access 2007 is
having numerous problems with the database, especially when I try to insert a
new linked object. I get messages like: "Can't open database ". The
database may not be recognized by your application or the file may be
corrupt." I have tried to backup the database, convert it to an Access 2007
database and Repair the database. Nothing seems to work. Now I'm getting
VBA errors as well. It has been a very frustrating process trying to figure
this out. I am not an IT person, just an end-user with novice to
intermediate knowledge of Access databases. Have been using Access since it
was first published. Please help!! If I can provide you with more info,
please let me know.

Thanking you in advance for your help,
Frustrated Pat

Hi Pat,

I use the Image control in 2007 to show photos. The path
and filename is stored in a field and a new feature in 2007
is that the Image control can now have a ControlSource

This means that Access does not have to bring images into
the database to show them on continuous forms and reports --
so you get to avoid that bloat :)
