access 2007 Error 3701 "Invalid Scale for Decimal Datatype"

I am trying to access an informix database from MS Access 2007. Most of the
tables link successfully but at least one returns the error... Error 3701
"Invalid Scale for Decimal Datatype". I have found a reference to this in
relation to acc2000 but nothing for acc2007. I have installed acc2007 sp2 and
established that the Informix driver is the latest available.
