Access 2007 over a LAN

Hi All,

I have Wireless LAN setup for 4 PCs (2 laptops and 2 desktops). They
talk to each other when it comes to sharing files/folders/printers
etc. They all are running on Win Xp.

Now I want share Access 2007 Database (.accdb) from one PC with other
3.

I have split the the database in front end and back end on the same
machine. Only problem is I do not have Access 2007 on all the PCs. Can
I use Access 2007 Runtime to access it over the LAN?

Can someone please tell me how this can be done, because Access
Runtime does not allow me to link the tables.

1. Use UNC (\\pc1\share1\mybe.mdb) for table linking with fe on the
machine that has full access.
2. Copy the fe.mdb onto the other PCs. There is no more need to use
the linking wizard.

To setup ms-access in a multi-user environment, you need to split you
database

You mentioned a wireless lan, and I don't recommend wireless, as it can
cause damage to the data file, and you have to revert to the previous days
backup (you MUST have one of those also!!).

You can try running with wireless, but the risk is high.....

The wan article does outline some soltuons you *can* use with a wireless lan
that work well with ms-access.

Hi AnandaSim ,

I could successfully create new UNC link and distribute fe.mdb
(fe.accdb) on a remote PC. It confirmed new UNC addresses for "all"
the tables as \\PC1\Database\Db.accdb. Thanks for that.

However only for one table (Devices) it throws an error, again showing
the old path from PC1. This error comes only when I try to access data
from that particular table directly and/or using a query or form. Now
I do not know where and what path needs to be changed!

Can you help me with this?

It works well on local PC (PC1) but when I copy that .accdb file to
another PC it does not work.

I have tried linking that particular table several times without any
success. Where can I change this path manually?
