Access 2007 VB Editor fails to launch

After downloading the Projects.accdb template I started adding VBA code. All
was going well then all of a sudden I could no longer access the VB Editor
and my code. Access crashed, wrote a backup and restarted itself but neither
the backup or original version can access the editor. A clean copy of the
Projects templates lets me into the VB Editor.
Not sure if it is related but I tried to open a 2003 mdb database with 2007
and it would not open saying that all the code needed to be removed from the
project first. This it did after I said yes but now that database is as good
as useless with all the VBA code gone.
Any ideas?
