Access 95 on Windows 2000

Hi,

Just a general query. I am trying to install MS Access 95 (using an Office
95 CD) on to PC using Windows 2000. But the Custom installation runs into
lots of problems such as system registry files missing etc. Just wanted to
know if their are actually issues with putting just MS Access 95 onto a PC
running Windows 2000 and what is the fix to resolve this problem. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of issues with putting Access 95 on any PC. It is arguably
the worst of all the versions of Access. It is difficult to install, and
crashes and corrupts regularly during development. I suggest you avoid it if
possible and install any other version.

I certainly agree with Arvin. You should install no less than Access 97.

There are some files that fix some problems and I'm not sure of all the file
names anymore (it's been 9 years). One of them is something like msjtwng.exe
I just searched the MSDN libraries and downloads found this that may help.

There were never any Service Packs issued for Access 95. It's difficult for
me to understand any organization or individual that does not recognize the
productivity gains from using a newer version will far outweigh the cost of
the newer version. Some would say, "Access 95 was _so_ bad, Microsoft never
bothered to try to fix it; they just fixed the errors in the next version,
Access 97."

By googling the archives of various newsgroups, you can find a good many Q&A
on issues and errors with Access 95 -- but not all of them have fixes. I
never installed Access 95 on Windows 2000... I dropped it like the
proverbial hot rock when Access 97 became available. I don't think I ever
installed it on any OS other than the Windows 95 that was on my machine when
Access 95 was released.

In any case, it is long out of support, so if you aren't able to get your
answer from the newsgroups, the archives, or searching on the Web, you may
not get an answer.
