Access 97/2002 application with Access 97 data file

97 and 2002 don't get along well when on the same pc.
What we have done is to create a shortcut to the form or
switchboard and put the path to either Access 97 or 2002,
depeding on which version that database is in, at the
beginnning of the new shortcut path. For example: Add the
following path to Version 2002 "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\MSACCESS.EXE" in front of
the shortcut to your
form "K:\EmployeeInfo\Admins\AutoAdmins.MAF" so that it
becomes: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10
\MSACCESS.EXE" "K:\New 14673
\Shorts\EmployeeInfo\Admins\AutoAdmins.MAF"

One of the problems you have with two or more versions of Access
installed is opening the correct version for each MDB/MDE. When you
double click on an MDB/MDE it will open the default (or last used)
version of Access which is not always what you want.

You may like to try this shareware utility:

ACCVER - Allows you to work with multiple
versions of MS Access.
Detects the version of Access used to create
your MDB, MDE or MDA files and either reports
the version number or starts the appropriate
version of MS Access.
An additional option allows you to compact
the database from a right-click menu item.
