Access 97 and Service Pack 1

When recently upgrading to a new version of MS Great
Plains on my desktops, it corrupted access 97. After
uninstalling Office 97 and re-installing Office 97, I
can't install Service Pack 1 for Office 97. I get a
message "The patch has determined that your installation
of Office cannot be updated at this time.."

Two articles come up on the Knowledgebase, but do not fix
my issue.

Anyone have any ideas?
