Access 97 CPU usage

JIM.H.

Hello,
We are using Office 97 and when we run access it uses 50%
CPU utilization, why is that and is there any way to fix
it?
Thanks,
cT.

Access uses all available CPU on the lowest (15) priority thread. It readily
gives up CPU cycles when any other process requests it. Generally after 30
to 45 seconds of inactivity, you'll see the CPU drop off. There is nothing
to fix.

I wouldn't worry about it. Access has a tendency to take as much CPU as it
can get, but it's very good at releasing CPU if other tasks want it. Are you
finding any problems with other tasks?

On Win2K you get contention if you try to use a file open dialog
during this period. Don't know why.

Also, it adds overhead to Terminal Server sessions, because it
does keyboard checking during the wait loop.
