Access 97 database repair

K

Kerman Jones

I need to repair a database of my client's that was
damaged. They cut the power on the computer while the
database was being accessed by an application(SalonBiz).
Apparently, they grew a little impatient. They need to
get that original database back into operation because
they have noway of knowing who has an appointment or even
who to call for reminder messages. I am running Access
2002. I attempt to use the compact and repair tool but
nothing comes up in Access. Also when I look into the
explorer window, that filename is written in blue and
cannot change the properties of it.

Please offer any assistance with this matter.

With Great Appreciation and Humility,

Kman

First, always work on a copy of the database. Working on the original may
make it impossible for a repair service to fix it.

Download a copy of JetComp.exe for Access 97:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;184582&Product=acc97

Then have a look at Tony Toews' Access Corruption FAQ at:

http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm

for some suggestions. Unfortunately, some corruption cannot be fixed - you
may need to create a new database, import what can be salvaged, and recreate
the rest.

Although it's a paid service, Peter Miller does an outstanding job of saving
corrupt databases. Try this URL:
