Access 97 error with XP, getting upset....

We have many pc's throughout our company in which we have
Access XP (along with Office XP) and Access 97 installed
on the same computer (XP operating system) without any
problems. But if you already have Office XP installed,
then try to install Access 97 on the Windows XP computer,
it, like virtually everything else Microsoft related,
gives you an error message. It gives the error message
of "You do not have an appropriate license installed on
this pc" (or something very similar, it's not in front of
me right now). Anyway, this question has been posed
numerous times over the past few weeks in this newsgroup
and at nearly all times, someone points you to this page:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;141373. This might work for a Windows 2000 pc, but it
simply will not work on my XP computers. Plus, what it's
asking me to do is impossible. It says to go
into "Add/Remove programs" and change the Office 97
package.....but I only have Access 97 installed, not the
entire package! Can anyone, anyone, please shed further
light on this for me? I'm still getting the exact same
error message regardless of what I try. Thank you!!

Thank you, but still getting the same error after
following the steps. Any other ideas??

Thanks!

I was having this same problem today. The solution under
2541141 worked for me, with one caveat. I would
recommend that you remove Office XP and reinstall Access
97 first and then Office XP to be sure to solve your
problem.

So, what have you actually tried? And what shows up in "Add/Remove programs"?
It sounds as though you have stopped before actually trying any of the solutions
described in that KB article (141373).
