Access 97 Errors out after closing "helper" icon.

When I click on my Access 97 icon, it allows me to enter
into the Access 97 program. However, the helper (paper
clip helper) allows me to inquire for help or to "start
using Access".
When I select "start using Access", Access immediately
closes without any error messages or codes. Therefore, I
cannot open or create any Access databases.

Any ideas?
