Access 97 import different than Access 2003

I used to import long text files into access 97. I would have a table
created with an autonum field and another field of type memo. This used to
work fine.

I am trying to accomplish the same thing with Access 2003. I build my
table, but after I import the data, I get errors about duplicate key values.
Is there something different with autonum fields in 2003 vs 97?
