Access 97 Install Problems

Lee

I purchased Access 97 (NOT an upgrade). Trying to
install on new computer (XP) and setup says its an
Upgrade. It won't install because I have no qualifying
programs to upgrade from. But its not an upgrade.
I had this problem when I installed it on my last
computer, which also had XP. Tech support didn't know
why & finally had to give me a different CD Key or
something to override. Anyone had a similar problem &
know a different solution. Don't want to pay tech
support again for this problem.

Can't you use MS-Works or Corel or something, just about anything qualifies
for an upgrade. If you can't upgrade from something like that, then maybe you
really are not qualified to use it?

No-one really buys Access(97) separately do they? Apart from the separate
components being uneconomic relative to buying MS-Office, you haven't been
able to buy 97 since 2000 came out. In 1999. Please explain where you "bought"
this from.

I was having the same problem when I read your own
solution. I found changing the fourth key code number
from a 7 to a 6 allows the program to install.
