Access 97 mde file read-only

Find the file in File Explorer, right-click on it to get at its properties,
and uncheck the Read-only property.

After making an mde file from an Access 97 read-write mdb
file and writing it to a cd, the understandable
message "read-only" is seen when opening that file on the
cd.
After copying the mde file to a computer from the cd,
however, the mde file has opened normally (marked shared
in Tools, Options, Advanced).

On a Windows 2000 computer we have, the same mde file is
frustrating us with read-only after being copied in from
the cd.

Can you help with a suggestion for making the file
read/write?

Thanks much,

JerryO
