You split the database into the Tables (data) in one database which is on a
server or computer that can be seen by all. And everything else in another
database with linked tables to the first one. Each person gets a copy of the
second (front-end) database.

There is a wizard in Access 97 (and later) for doing this. On the menu:

Tools ... Add-ins ... Database Splitter

For an overview of topics I considered worth discussing with my user group,
download my presentation "Access in a Multiuser Environment" from
http://appdevissues.tripod.com/downloads.htm.

For the best collection of links and info on the subject of which I am
aware, visit MVP Tony Toews' website, http://www.granite.ab.ca/accsmstr.htm.

Also, there is a sponsored newsgroup devoted just to Access multiuser
issues, microsoft.public.access.multiuser. You should be able to access it
via the same newsserver you used for this one, but if you cannot, Microsoft
provides a free newsserver for the sponsored groups at news.microsoft.com.
