Access 97 on Windows XP Pro

I have installed Office 2000 Pro on an XP Pro machine
(Dell) and then installed Access 97 in another directory
in order to use some older databases. The install says MS
Access did not complete. I have tried to Uninstall both
Office products and reinstall Access97 first then Office
2000 Pro.....Neither way makes any difference. I have
other XP Pro machines (Dell) with both products running
fine. When I try to Open Access 97 database (with a
switchboard) I get an exclaimation box..No heading for the
box and No error message in the box...just an exclaimation
and an OK button. Click OK and I see the switchboard box
open, but none of the database choives are present. I'm
really stumpped on this one. Any ideas????
