Access 97 over Windows XP

I have a client with a legacy application which runs on
Access 97. Is it possible/adviseable to install Access 97
on a Windows XP Professional computer. Are there any
specific things to look out for, any gotchas?

Thanks.

Office 97/Access 97 will run just fine on Windows XP.

One common "gotcha" that occurs is that occasionally, after installing
Office 97 on Windows XP or Windows 2000, a user may receive the following
message: "Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license for it
on this machine." This problem is due to a misbehaving font. The fix for
that problem, should it occur, is found at:

I would certainly want to test the app on a single XP box configured to
match the setup used in the client's environment, though.

Office 97 installation is not 'signed'. This means that you
must be an administrator to install or re-install A97.
By default, Access re-registers itself when it starts,
if it has become un-registered. Access 97 becomes
unregistered when Access 2K+ starts, and visa-versa.
That means you must be an administrator to run Access 97
after using Access 2K+.

The solution is to find msaccess.srg and delete the
contents of the file.
