access 97 start up error

I have recently re-formatted my computer and installed XP
on my system. I installed Access 97, then Office XP (
without access) and everytime I try to begin the Access97
application, I get an "out of memory" error and to close
other programs. My paging and virtual memory are extremely
high now (4000) and it still will not run? Any suggestions?

access97 has an small installation problem with windows XP.
(like can't find license)
you can search on "out of memory access" in the microsoft
database.

is it alseo when starting access without a database
selected?

Yes, this is the initial installation and a I am trying to
