Access 97 to 2000

We are intending to upgrade from Access 97 to Access 2000,
however I have a lot of reports in the form of Pivot
Tables querying direct from the database. When we upgrade
the database from 97 to 2000 (we have kept a copy in 97 as
a safeguard)when refreshing my my Pivot Table reports I
get a message 'unrecognized database format'. Obviously
it doesnt like the upgrade. How can I get round this, it
must be a common problem when upgrading Access versions.
