Access 97 to Access 2000

Is there a converter to convert an Access 97 database to
Access 2000? Also, is there a particular sequence for the
upgrade ie. do I install Access 2000 first then transfer
database file? I am installing Access 2000 to do simple
invoices that were previously done in Access 97......

The capability to convert an Access 97 database to Access 2000 is built in
to Access 2000. Install Access 2000, make a backup copy of your Access 97
database, open Access 2000 and then open your Access 97 database. You will
first see a Convert/Open window which will allow you to choose whether you
want to convert your Access 97 database or open it as a 97 database.

Built in but doesn't always work. I have an Access 97 application that runs fine in A97, but trying to run or convert it in Access returns a statement that the files are corrupt and the conversion can not be made. Unfortunately it doesn't tell you where its problem is. I'm searching for an incremental way to approach the conversion so that I can find'fix? the problem>

It's quite possible that the VBA is corrupt in the A97 version. And
converting just brings out the error. I'd suggest making a backup
first and then trying a Compile and Save All in A97. Ctrl+G to open
the debug window >> Debug >> Compile and Save All Modules.

If that doesn't make a difference then see Decompile or how to reduce
Microsoft Access MDB/MDE size and decrease start-up times
