Access 97 to XP conversion issue

Hello - I have converted an application, from Access 97 to
Access XP.

When the app is run, it grows in size, from 260 KB
originally to more than 1000 KB. Also, the process used to
take 2 hours and now it is taking 8 hours.

Would you be able to direct me to a help site, so that I
can troubleshoot this problem? Or, would you have any
advice?
