Access 97 using too much system resources

Hi There - I currently have an access 97 application installed on a terminal
server (windows server 2000)that can have up to 10 simultaneous connections
at any one time. I am finding that Access 97 is very resource hungry as my
processor usually sits around the 100% mark.

Can you tell me whether or not upgrading my version of Access will fix this
problem

my processor usually sits around the 100% mark.

This was actually a bit deceptive. Access isn't *really* eating your
CPU, and it will gracefully give up its hold on the processor if you
want to do something else; it had to do with an interaction between
Access and the task manager, as I understand it.

To the extent that it's a problem... yes. I wouldn't upgrade *just*
for this reason, though.

Thanks John - but unless I end an access process (using task manager) when
running at 100% I cant do anything else ie open any other apps (it either
hangs or takes a very long time), once the access (msaccess.exe) is ended
then the box returns to normal and I am able to establish other connections
and run other applications

Hello John,
have a look at www.mouches-volantes.de/ACC97TAM/ACC97TAM.htm . There is
a patch which may solve your problem.
