access 97 wont open in access 2000

I have got Access 97 on my laptop and when i put my network cable in it wont
open the database from the network (which is running Access 2000 )

Networks don't "run" Access. Do you mean that the database on the server was
created using Access 2000? Access 97 cannot open it then. You'll have to
open the database using Access 2000 (or newer), then convert it back to
Access 97 format (under Tools | Database Utilities)
