Access 97 won't start on XP

When I attempt to start Access 97 on my XP OS an error
message pops up that states: "Can't find the database you
specified, or you didn't specify a database at all.
Specify a valid database name in the command line, and
include a path if necessary." (How am I supporsed to do
this?)

When I click "OK" the error message program window closes
and the software never opens.

I have already attempted to do the ACC97 AcLin97 manual
fix to the font file and it has no effect.

When I attempt to open a sample database the same message
pops up - and no Access opens.

I do have versions of Word2000 and Excel2000 and Outlook
2002 on my system. I have downloaded the Office 97
Professional Edition version of Access97 on the system,
and it is recognized by the OS - like when I first tried
to e-mail Microsoft directly about this problem (but have
run out of support clicks I guess) - it found the
software and its ID number - but when I look under the
system software info listing, it has a listing for Office
2002 and Office 2000 but nothing for Office 97PE or
Access97.

What is happening and what can I do about it?
