Access 97

Having installed both Access 97 and 2000 on Windows ME, I
now find that I cannot start up the 97 version as it comes
up with a warning message saying......."Cannot open Access
as there is no licence for it on this machine" Does
anyone have any ideas how I rectify this?

This is a font problem, believe it or not! Go to "Start/Search/For files and
folders" and enter hatten.ttf. In the 'Look in' box type c:\windows\fonts.
Click "Search".

(If Hatten.ttf is not found, try searching for Haettenschweiler.ttf.
Haettenschweiler is the full name of the Hatten font).

When this shows change its name to hatten.xxx. Minimize search. DO NOT CLOSE
THE SEARCH WINDOW.

Shut down all other programmes.

Go to Control Panel/Add Remove Programmes and uninstall Office 97.

Using the Office 97 disc, reinstall Office 97.

After reinstallation, maximize the search window and rename hatten.xxx back
to hatten.ttf.

You should now be back in business.

Good luck,

Ed
